Unexpected sunset at the Baltic sea

September 20, 2019 by Ralf Lukovic Leave a Comment

When you plane a walk in the forest and suddenly end with beautiful sunset at the Baltic sea? How it’s possible you wonder?

Todays adventure wasn’t planed to be a drone flight at all. The cloudy weather and a light rain was perfect for taking a walk in forest. We draw my friends car to Tyresta NP and took with us our drones… just in case the weather changes. After arrival we pick up one of the trails and started to walk.

My friend is good in finding and recognising eatable mushrooms. This part of the park was perfect for that. We where both walking and collecting a few different kind of mushroom in about hour or two. During the time the weather changed and the rain stopped. The wind went down to almost none (3 m/s) and we decided to explore one or few places. They where marked previous in our phones as a places of interests. The Baltic sea was around 15 minutes drive from us and we went there.

After we parked a car we took our drones with us. We walked in about 20 minutes and reached our final destination. Before our arrival we saw few cows resting in a gras. Even many birds during the coast lines.

HDR technique – useful in some situations

The light was ok considering the cloudy weather. This kind of weather is good for taking the pictures of areas with trees. Photographing during the sunny days the details from shadows of trees are difficult to capture in relation to sky. You can compromise with the sky and shadows and sometimes choose one area to perfectly expose. Or you can do HDR photography with triple exposure.

Camera takes 3 photos with different shutters speed. The first one underexposed then normal exposed and in the end overexposed photo. Later at home with help from your app of choice and in my case Lightroom you combine them in one perfect photo.

After our walk Baltic sea and the sky surprised us…

After two batteries done we start to pack our equipment. Suddenly our luck changed and the fire in the sky appeared. Fortunately we both had a third battery which was enough with flight time to document the event. We both went back home with beautiful sunset phots and enough with mushroom for each dinner.
